Boursin Échalote & Ciboulette is a rich, spreadable soft cheese with herbs and garlic.
THE UNIQUE STORY OF BOURSIN CHEESE
The story of the now famous Boursin cheese began with François Boursin. In 1957, this young cheesemaker from Normandy opened a cheese factory in Croisy-sur-Eure, a small commune in northern France.
For years, François worked quietly, perfecting his cheese. Then in 1961, a French newspaper mistakenly reported that Boursin with garlic had been launched, and the public loved the idea. The problem was that François had no such recipe, so he quickly went to work to meet the demand. For two years, he worked on his own original recipe, inspired by fromage frais, a traditional party food that combined garlic, fresh cream, soft cheese, herbs, salt, and pepper.
Finally, in 1963, François was satisfied with his authentic soft cheese with garlic and introduced it to the world. Boursin Garlic & Fine Herbs was served at parties and gatherings throughout France and quickly became a favorite.
