Producer information

The Budapest Dairy Company started producing the original Soviet dessert (the ancestor of the Soviet Union, a chocolate-coated vanilla-flavored curd-butter-sugar mixture, already existed in the Soviet Union under the name "glazirovannij szirok") in 1968, the idea of which was brought to Hungary during a study trip between the CMEA countries. It was first produced in the Mátészalka dairy plant of Szabolcstej, then production was also started in the Nagybánhegyes Zalkatej dairy plant. Following the regime change, the manufacturing companies were privatized, as a result of which the production of Túró Rudi became the property of Friesland-Campina.
