Producer information

The Budapest Dairy Company started producing the original Soviet dessert (in the Soviet Union, an ancestor of the dessert filled with a mixture of cottage cheese, butter and sugar, flavored with vanilla and coated with chocolate, already existed under the name "glazirovannij szirok") in 1968, when the idea was brought to Hungary during a study trip between the CMEA countries. It was first produced in the Szabolcstej dairy plant in Mátészalka, and then production was also started in the Zalkatej dairy plant in Nagybánhegyes. After the regime change, the manufacturing companies were privatized, as a result of which the production of Túró Rudi became the property of Friesland-Campina.
