La Grande Épicerie Blue Persian Salt

Persian salt is one of the rarest and most valuable salts in the world. It is extracted from the rocky mountains of Iran and gets its blue colour from the potassium ore it contains, which marblizes the surface of the crystals. It has an elegant and delicate aroma and goes wonderfully with vegetables, poached fish and white meats, which it wonderfully enhances thanks to its unique and slightly spicy flavour.

Producer information

It was only 100 years ago, in 1923, that the new building of the future Grande Epicerie de Paris was inaugurated. Initially, the grocery counter offered teas, cocoa powder and chocolate, then gradually opened up to fresh produce from 1933 onwards. This was a real revolution at the time, as it was the first time that a grocery counter had been integrated into a department store. From the outset, thematic exhibitions were presented to highlight foreign gastronomy, particularly Italian and British.
