Producer information

Kőröstej Kft. was founded in 1991 and has since become Hungary's largest cheese producer and one of its most significant food exporters. The number of employees exceeds 1000 people.

Every year, they process more than 110 million liters of excellent quality milk, sourced exclusively from Hungarian dairy farms, in their plants in Barcs, Hajdúböszörmény, and Kőröstetétlen, while in Kacsóta, Baranya county, they produce processed cheeses. The company produces 40,000 tons of cheese annually, which is equivalent to almost half of the Hungarian cheese consumption. 

The Hajdú brand is the flagship of the Kőröstej group. The name has a long history in the Hungarian dairy industry, as the Hajdú County Dairy Company, founded in 1957, was one of the largest Hungarian dairy companies until the transformation following the regime change. Thus, the "Hajdú" brand name has been a household name in Hungary for more than 50 years.
