HúsSzabóság Pork Leg Chopped
100% Hungarian quality! The pork comes from a reliable, responsible domestic farm, and its production is subject to regular, strict and continuous monitoring. Pork consumption is not just a gastronomic experience. It is rich in nutrients, making it an important source of minerals, fat, protein and vitamins. The back leg is marketed boned and cut up. Its use is versatile, depending on its parts, it is suitable for cooking, baking or steaming.
Usage information
Raw meat must be stored and processed separately from other foods! The product requires heat treatment, it is not suitable for human consumption raw!
Usage suggestion: Pulled pork sandwich
Ingredients for 8 people:
- 1.2 kg HúsSzabóság pork leg
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground Roman cumin
- 1 teaspoon coriander
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon marjoram
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 30 g salt
- 1 teaspoon tomato paste
- 4 tablespoons oil + for frying
- 1 head of red onion
- 150 ml water
- 100 ml ketchup (125 g)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons wine or apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 8 sandwich buns
- Mayonnaise
- cheese
- gherkins
Preparation
- Mix the dry spices for the spice mixture, then add the tomato puree, 4 tablespoons of oil, 4 tablespoons of water and mix well. Massage the resulting spice mixture well into the meat. Once this is done, pour oil into a heated pot and brown the meat on all sides. While the leg is browning, add the chopped red onion, the spice paste (what was left after greasing the meat), the ketchup, the water, the apple cider vinegar, the Worcestershire sauce and the soy sauce. Stir, and when it starts to simmer, put the pot in the 130 degree oven, where it will steam for 4 hours.

When done, put the meat in a bowl (even in pieces) and use 2 forks or a pair of tongs to shred the meat. Be careful not to mash the meat! (If you want to make it juicier, you can pour the remaining juice in the pot over it, but you can also save it for later grilling as a sauce. If you choose this, boil the sauce for a few more minutes, then it's done!)

Now you can assemble the sandwich: cut a preheated bun in half, put a good portion of the meat on it, then the pulled pork sauce, then a slice of cheese, a little mayonnaise and the gherkins. Heat the whole thing in the oven/microwave and dinner is ready!
