Beach Time at Home – How About a Lángos?
Cheese-sour cream, garlic, or perhaps jam? Or have you tried the sausage, ham, pizza version too? Don't worry, we don't judge anyone for their taste! When we think of a lunch consumed at the beach, it's almost certain that lángos ranks high! Have you ever thought about frying it yourself? We don't know anything better than homemade lángos, plus it will be just as oily as you want it to be. Kifli.hu now speaks to all lángos lovers: let's make it together, because summer isn't complete without lángos!
 

Preparation

First, prepare the garlic oil! In a small bowl, mix the water with the oil, add the grated garlic, stir it together, and let it sit.

For the dough, mix the sugar in the water, add the yeast, and let it rise.

Mix the salt into the flour, add the risen yeast water, and knead the dough thoroughly. When it is nice and smooth, drizzle a tablespoon of oil on top, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size (about 30-40 minutes).

Once the dough has risen, with oiled hands, form dough balls of the desired size, then stretch the edges to shape the lángos and fry both sides in hot oil until golden brown. Serve with garlic oil, sour cream, and grated cheese to taste.

Ingredients

For the dough:

  • 3.5 dl water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 25 g yeast
  • 500 g flour
  • 1 tsp salt

For the garlic oil:

  • 0.5 dl water
  • 0.5 dl oil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • Oil for frying, sour cream and grated cheese to taste for serving
