Kifli shoppers are getting greener!
At the end of November, we held Green Friday instead of Black Friday, and we checked the statistics to see how Kifli customers reacted to our encouragement of smart consumption over overconsumption. Before the detailed campaign evaluation, we can reveal that we are truly proud of our customers because they are becoming more environmentally conscious – and we are delighted to help in these efforts.
Zero waste shopping
The essence of our Refill category is waste reduction: no unnecessary plastic is generated, as we offer a variety of dry foods and cleaning products in returnable (and returnable to our couriers) bottles. During the campaign, we had 32.1% more customers on average per week from this selection than in the 3 months before the campaign.
We saved the food
One of our most important services is Save the Food, because in addition to selling near-expiry but still perfect food at a very high discount, we do a lot together against food waste (what remains is not wasted either: we give it to the Food Bank). That's why we are interested in how popular this category was after we highlighted it again during Green Friday. The number of customers increased by 2.4%, the number of orders by 3.1%, and the purchased value by 18.6% compared to the same period of the previous month.
Water filters instead of PET
And when it comes to solutions that are kind to both the planet and the wallet, we are always happy to draw attention to our wide range of water filters. Instead of PET bottles, we can always conjure fresh and contaminant-free water from tap water at home. And how did the fate of these product families change due to Green Friday? 11% more people bought water filters than a month earlier, and the number of water filters sold also increased by 7%. From the sea of numbers, we also fished out that we mostly sell filters for water filters at Kifli: the two most popular products were THIS and THIS during the November green campaign.
More and more eco-bags
We were also interested in how many people request their orders in eco-bags instead of paper bags? Although we see slow and small growth this year, 17.8% now choose our 100% PET bottle recycled bags and the related practical eco-circular system. What is also interesting in this topic is that as our customers buy more, they also use more recycled eco-bags. At the beginning of the year, an average of 4-5 baskets of recycled bags were enough for 1 shopping, while in November, this meant 6-7 bags. As a result, the 2,400 recycled bags distributed daily at the beginning of the year now mean 4,400 recycled bags.
Overall, we would like to thank you for being so receptive to our eco-efforts. Our customers have already touched us, as during the joint campaign with Mastercard, they contributed to the planting of more than 15,000 trees with their card purchases. Many small efforts add up, let's continue to work together for our Earth in the future!
