Leeks, with their sweetish, silky, pleasantly mild taste, are worth consuming not only for their flavour but also because they are extremely healthy, rich in vitamins and minerals, and also high in fibre. The large amount of sulphur found in leeks plays a role in detoxifying the body and maintaining the elasticity of connective tissues. Leeks are an excellent source of B, C, and K vitamins, and also contain folic acid, magnesium, manganese, zinc, selenium, calcium, copper, and potassium. The calorie content of leeks is also very low; 100g of the vegetable contains approximately 60 calories.
