The Spice Girl Mulled Wine Spice Mix

Mulled wine, the star of Christmas markets and cosy winter evenings. With this spice mix, you can forget about the slightly failed versions! Did you know that, like so many things, we owe mulled wine to the Romans? Let's say they started to boil and spice the wine for a much more prosaic reason: they wanted to cover up the poor quality and preserve it by boiling it. It is not entirely out of the question that some Christmas markets offer a version made with a similar motivation, but if you make it yourself at home, it is better to stick to the saying: if you wouldn't drink it on its own, it won't be real mulled wine either. All you have to do is get the right wine, and leave the perfect seasoning and proportions to the Spice Girl!

Suggested use

Pour a good quality dry red wine into a saucepan, add half of the mixture and 5 dkg of sugar, then bring to a boil. When it's ready, you can pour it into a mug with a slice of orange!
