First grown in greenhouses in the coastal strip of the province of Ragusa in south-eastern Sicily. It has a unique shape, similar to the San Marzano tomato but much smaller, making it more suitable for fresh consumption. Marzaninetto is the result of over twenty years of varietal selection work, which is still ongoing today. Red in colour, with a marked glossy sheen, deep red. Slyly sweet taste, authentic flavour, firm flesh, meaty but thin skin, fresh and balanced taste. The scent of sun-ripened dried tomatoes, with hints of green tomato leaves and fresh basil.

Its growing areas are Scoglitti (Vittoria), Macconi (Acate) and the neighbouring coastal areas; it is grown in greenhouses, on the ground or above ground. It is grown all year round, harvested by hand, one by one, and delivered to the packaging plant within 4 hours of harvesting, where it is checked, accepted and processed strictly by hand, with care, in recycled (Rpet) or easily recyclable packaging.
Interesting facts
Due to its low calorie content, it is suitable for everyone, thanks to the presence of carotenoids (lycopene and alpha-carotene), potassium, phosphorus, vitamin C, vitamin K and folic acid. The red colour of tomatoes is due to lycopene, which gives it diuretic and antioxidant properties, and counteracts the action of free radicals.
Serving suggestions
Recommended for preparing appetisers, bruschetta, cold platters, first courses and side dishes; raw or cooked for a few minutes.
