The Sonnberg story is extraordinary: it is characterized by courage, ingenuity, and especially honest animal husbandry, as well as the assertion that animals are valuable food. Before Manfred Huber founded Sonnberg Biofleisch with Wolfgang Fürst in 2004, he worked in agriculture for years and was passionately interested in animals and their welfare. Animals were and are valuable to him, both as food and for maintaining the natural cycle. The name Sonnberg Biofleisch comes from the organic butcher shop that Huber took over in early 2000 – its headquarters were on Sonnbergplatz in Vienna's 19th district.
