Producer information

The wonderful Upper Pannon wine region is home to Hilltop's vineyards. It is wonderful because the cultural diversity of the region's settlements and the variety of the landscape make the area a real treasure trove.

The wine region, which extends over the slopes and hills of the Vértes, Buda, Gerecse, Kőszeg, Sopron mountains and the Velence and Pannonhalma hills, is linked by the cooler character of the climate and the lively, acid-rich wines. Its climate is shaped by the oceanic, wetter and cooler air currents arriving from the north and the southern Mediterranean influences, so there are considerably more white grapes here than blue grapes, in line with the weather conditions. Since the wine region is relatively large (it stretches from Budapest to the western border of the country), the grape varieties grown are also very diverse, from Kékfrankos to Ezerjó and Chardonnay.
