Petyke Matyi?
The members of the Sol Montis Absurd wine family are not fictional characters!
They bring to life the famous or even infamous figures of Gyöngyöstarján in a modern guise, so that their memory can live on! Petyke Matyi, as a best man, was one of the unknown prophets of early Hungarian machine folk: cheerful drinking songs and a two-cassette tape recorder with which he was able to perform at every village wedding. Everyone loved him, he was a celebrity of the better kind, who also helped the building with dancing after 11 pm.

About the Mátra wine region

Significant wine production was already taking place in the Middle Ages on the protected vineyards on the southern slopes of the Mátra Mountains. Several secular and sacred estate vineyards and medieval cellars recorded the existence of local wine production. The most famous is the so-called Haller-uradalmi tithe cellar built in the middle of the 18th century in Gyöngyöstarján, whose bottomless stomach swallowed the must of the surrounding area, from which excellent white wine was made.
Its characteristic grape varieties are Irsai Olivér, Chardonnay, Leányka, Szürkebarát, Kékfrankos, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon.
