Kovács és Lánya - Sol Montis Kisfrancia, Mátra 12.5%
A wine made from 100% viogner that was intended to commemorate a man who was just as in love with Fajzatpuszta as the Kovács és Lánya winemakers. A gentleman who was as passionate about hunting as they are. Kisfrancia, who was among the first to drive his automobile along the Gyöngyöstarján–Paris route, but whose heart always drew him back to Mátra.
Cheers, Perry!

About the Mátra wine region
Significant wine production has been taking place on the protected southern slopes of the Mátra mountains since the Middle Ages. Several secular and sacred manorial vineyards and medieval cellars have recorded the existence of local wine production. The most famous is the so-called Haller-manorial tithe cellar built in the mid-18th century in Gyöngyöstarján, whose bottomless stomach swallowed the surrounding must, from which excellent white wine was made.
Its characteristic grape varieties are Irsai Olivér, Chardonnay, Leányka, Szürkebarát, Kékfrankos, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon.

Producer information
The Kovács és Lánya winemaking estate is located in Gyöngyöstarján, in the heart of the Mátra wine region. The landscape surrounding the village is a true wonder, which is why they feel it is their mission to create fine wines that best express the characteristics of Mátra. They farm on a more than 100-hectare vineyard at the foot of gentle hills, with a professional past that respects ancient winemaking traditions and a youthful, fresh momentum.
László Kovács founded the current Kovács Winery in 1999 and enriched the vineyard inherited from his grandparents with his own plots. Since then, they have been continuously purchasing and planting new plantations with increasingly high-quality yields, and developing viticulture and winemaking. Because they never lose sight of the goal that also inspired their ancestors: their mission is still to produce wines that best express the magical diversity of Mátra. In 2011, the winemaker's daughter, Zita Kovács, also returned to the tradition of her ancestors, so today she is also a pillar and enthusiastic member of the family business alongside her father.
