Balsamic vinegar
It is not a typical ingredient of Hungarian cuisine, and until a few decades ago it was not widely known outside Italy. However, it has since become popular.
Vinegar did not have to be invented, it is created spontaneously when acetic acid bacteria multiply in a solution of ethyl alcohol and water, and the alcohol oxidizes into acetic acid. This is how vinegar can be made at home - it will also be made from unsulphured wine.
Balsamic vinegar is similar to wine vinegar, it is a so-called "advanced" version of it. It was probably invented by accident: the boiled must, the popular sweetener of the Middle Ages, was forgotten in a pot and only came to light from the depths of the pantry when it already had a pungent vinegar smell.
