BIO Lime, loose

 The fruit of the lime has a thin skin, is seedless, juicy, pleasantly flavored, and subtly sour. It is a close relative of the lemon, whose peel remains greenish-yellow even when fully ripe, and is much thinner than that of a "traditional lemon". The fruit flesh is very juicy, fragrant and more aromatic than that of a lemon.

Lime is native to Asia, in the region called Indo-Malayan, which extends from India to Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia, and has been cultivated since ancient times. The fruit was brought to North Africa and the eastern Mediterranean by Arab traders in the 10th century, and then to the western Mediterranean by crusaders in the 11th and 12th centuries.

Usage

It is a popular ingredient in cocktails. It can also be used when making fruit salads, for sponges, sauces, and to flavor marinades. It is an essential ingredient in Mexican, Latin American, Indian, and Thai cuisine.

Store in a dry, cool place, between 10-12 °C.
