The history of Pepsi Cola began in 1898, when Caleb D. Bradham, a pharmacist from New Bern, North Carolina, USA, experimented with various mixtures of carbonated water, sugar, vanilla, cola oils and nuts, and discovered Pepsi-Cola. He named one of the combinations, which his friends liked the most, Brad's Drink. In 1902, the name was changed, and the brand name was derived from pepsin, referring to its medicinal properties. To this day, pediatricians recommend the product for children with colic. This is how Bradham's drink got the name Pepsi-Cola. Five years later, the product was officially registered and advertised in newspapers as a digestive aid.
