Titbit galangal, packed

The rootstock of the plant (Zingiberis rhizoma) provides the characteristically fragrant, pungent, slightly bitter spice. Its aroma is caused by its essential oil, and its taste by its gingerol content. It is a plant native to tropical parts of Asia.

It is a medicinal plant with many positive effects. Thanks to the active ingredients of ginger, it has anti-nausea, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, cough-relieving, and antimicrobial effects. It contains large amounts of vitamins A, C, E and B, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, iron and zinc.

Use

Soups, soup dumplings, potato and bean stews, sauces, meat dishes, game meats, sauces, pastries (gingerbread, biscuits, etc.), mulled wine, liqueurs, brandies, and oriental dishes are indispensable flavorings. In addition, we can also make excellent herbal tea from it.

We only flavor our dishes with it in the last phase of cooking, so it highlights and enriches the flavors. Due to its intense aroma, it should be used sparingly, because if overdosed, it gives an unpleasant, slightly bitter taste.
