Producer information

The Budapest Dairy Company started producing the originally Soviet sweet in 1968 (its ancestor, a vanilla-flavored, chocolate-coated curd-butter-sugar mixture, already existed in the Soviet Union under the name "glazirovannij szirok"). The idea came to Hungary during a study trip between CMEA countries. It was first produced in Szabolcstej's dairy plant in Mátészalka, and later production also began in Zalkatej's dairy plant in Nagybánhegyes. Following the regime change, the manufacturing companies were privatized, through which the production of Túró Rudi came into the ownership of Friesland-Campina.

Even today, the Pöttyös brand enjoys incredible success, as every age group can find their favorite flavor. For us Hungarians, Pöttyös products mean more than just a delicacy. They are always with us and bring a smile to our faces and cheer us up at every moment!
