Tomatoes belong to the nightshade family and are native to South and Central America. Today, you can buy different types of special tomatoes all year round, such as small cherry tomatoes, slightly larger cocktail tomatoes, or elongated berry-shaped (mini plum, mini San Marzano) or pear-shaped tomato varieties, in bunches or individually packaged.
