Rege Steamed Red Cabbage
Serve as a side dish with roast duck breast or mixed with apples as a salad.

Serving suggestion - Roast duck with steamed red cabbage and mashed potatoes with onions
- Preparation time: 75 minutes
- Ingredients for 4 people: 1 jar of Rege Steamed Red Cabbage, 4 whole duck legs, salt, freshly ground pepper, 1/2 tsp fresh OR 1 tsp dried, crumbled thyme, 700 g yellow potatoes, 1 large red onion, 2+2 tbsp duck fat, salt.
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 190 degrees. Salt and pepper the duck legs on both sides, then place in a baking tray and sprinkle with thyme.
- Pour a little water or dry white wine (1 dl) underneath. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes, then remove the foil and let it roast for a good hour until it is crispy.
- While the duck is roasting, prepare the mashed potatoes with onions. To do this, peel and dice the potatoes. Put them in a pot and pour cold water over them, at least enough to cover them by two fingers. Cook covered, salt after boiling. Cook until soft, then drain.
- In a frying pan, sauté the finely chopped red onion in duck fat. Pour this over the drained, dripped potatoes and mash with a potato masher. You can add 1-2 tablespoons of the fat from the duck to make it even tastier.
- Serve the roast duck with steamed red cabbage and mashed potatoes with onions.
