Sauska Siller 2023 Villány
Crisp Villány siller, a blend of five varieties (cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot, kékfrankos, pinot noir). After bunch and berry selection, it was soaked for a day in a refrigerated environment, then the pomegranate-coloured must was fermented dry in steel tanks and barrels. The full-bodied sip contains lots of fruit, cherry jam and cherry in addition to the vibrant acids. More substantial than rosé, smoother than red.

Producer information
Starting a new large winery in Villány in the early 2000s? A crazy idea. Especially if most of the starting team is not even from there. Winemakers Ildikó Markó and László Latorczai came from Budapest and Lake Balaton, while the owner, Krisztián Sauska - despite his childhood in Somberek and his Villány roots - was still considered an "American" in local folklore. Yet it was precisely this lack of a past that gave the freedom from which the unusual Sauska name, reinforced by numerous cuvées, could emerge. The new vintage of the Cuvée 7s and the international success of the Cuvée 5 have made the Sauska winery known in Tokaj as well.
They were among the first to develop their dry white wine selection, which quickly became popular, and which, in addition to the native furmint, sárgamuskotály and hárslevelű, also includes wines that have become audience favourites, such as sauvignon blanc and chardonnay. The base material for their methode traditionelle sparkling wines, which will soon be opening in their Budafok cellar, is exclusively their own Tokaj grapes, and the basis of their quality-oriented philosophy is terroir and loyalty to it.
