Blood orange is one of the healthiest southern fruits, full of antioxidants and vitamin C.

Red pigments are found in the peel and flesh of blood oranges, which give it its characteristic colour. The taste of blood orange is sweet, although more sour than that of regular orange. Blood orange is especially recommended for diabetics, as its consumption significantly increases the amount of antioxidants in the blood, thus reducing the level of harmful substances.
Use
It can be used to flavour and decorate sweet pastries and desserts, but it also gives a delicious, piquant flavour to green salads, fish and meat dishes alike.
