Don't be fooled by the colour, this sweet-tasting exotic fruit has a greenish-reddish colour. If you buy a hard fruit, it will ripen in 2-3 days at room temperature. In addition to its pleasant taste, it is rich in vitamins and minerals, and its enzyme has a stomach-protecting effect. Its high fibre content aids digestion and has a beneficial effect on the body. It contains vitamins A, B1, B2, C and E.
The large mango has more flesh and is easier to clean than the small one, which is why it is more expensive than the average sized fruit.

Interesting fact
According to Hindu scriptures, the mango, which is native to the tropical valleys of the Himalayas, has been held in high esteem for 4000 years. It is thought to have reached Persia only in the 15th century, then Arabia, later America, but today it is grown in warmer climates all over the world.
Use
It is an excellent companion to spicy, smoked meat dishes, but it is most delicious raw, on its own or mixed with other exotic fruits. Some people pour liqueur into the halved fruit and consume it chilled, but it is also good for punch or fruit salad, ice cream, and delicious compote and jam can be made from it. In India, many households make chutney from it, which is a Hindu spice sauce.
Storage
Unripe mangoes should be stored at room temperature, ripe mangoes in a dry, cool place, between 6-10 °C.
