Grapoila almond flour
Thanks to its vitamin E content, almonds help the body regenerate and combat oxidative stress. They are also rich in B and P vitamins, as well as minerals. They have a high protein and dietary fiber content, but a low carbohydrate content, making them ideal for post-sport regeneration. Almond flour – like our other nut flours – is gluten-free. In the case of the defatted version, the first step is to press the oil from the almonds, and the resulting pellet from the pressing is ground into flour. It is a favorite flour type for those following a paleo diet.
Producer information
Right from the very beginning, when the company was founded, environmental protection was important to them. Along with the idea of producing high-quality, whole foods from natural ingredients, their firm intention was to create value from what others deemed waste. Grape pomace is a waste product from wineries, previously used at most for animal feed, yet they saw the valuable grape seeds, rich in excellent physiological effects and quality oil, in it more than 10 years ago. This first raw material marked the beginning of Grapoila's Zero Waste – i.e., waste-free – production of cold-pressed oils. During the Zero Waste production process, every part of the incoming raw materials is processed, and nothing is discarded. In the case of grape pomace, the grape skin, rich in bioactive substances, is separated from the seeds and ground after drying. The resulting packaged meal can be used to flavor cakes and creams. The seeds are also dried, and then oil is pressed from them – without heat treatment or additives – using their self-developed pressing machines. The cold-pressed oils thus obtained are healthy foods or cosmetic oils with extraordinary nutritional value, which are bottled in dark glass bottles. The sediment formed before filtering the freshly pressed oil is oil sludge, which, like the oil, is rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins, but also contains micro-particles of the seeds. This – depending on its nature – is sold as gourmet cream or cosmetic mud.
From the "dry residue" of oil pressing, the pellet – which is a low-fat and low-carbohydrate, but very rich in plant protein, vitamins, and other nutrients, gluten-free material – they grind seed flours, which are excellent baking additives. The pellet is also very popular among animal feed manufacturers, so it is sold to them for further use. Since they use exclusively natural ingredients, the few by-products that cannot be utilized otherwise are dried for animal feed, potting soil additive, compost, or fuel. The latter, along with any green waste, goes into the biomass boiler that heats the drying system, thus closing the loop. Environmental aspects are also taken into account in the maintenance of the plant. For cleaning, they primarily use compressed air. For wiping, they rent cleaning cloths from a company that extracts oil from the used cloths, which they use to heat their laundry, and they receive clean ones back. Parts are cleaned with an organic washing system containing cleaning microorganisms that biologically break down fats and oils.
With "Zero Waste" production, they reduce their ecological footprint, are more environmentally conscious, and at the same time, reduce costs.
