Lorenzo Parboiled Rice
The processing steps for harvested rice differ for parboiled rice compared to white rice. Long-grain rice is soaked, steamed, and then dried with its husk on. The husk is only removed afterwards, and the result is parboiled rice. Steaming allows the rice to absorb nutrients and also changes its starch content. From it, we can cook rice that is less sticky, firmer, and has a more elastic texture.
