Producer information

In 1968, the Budapest Dairy Company began producing the original Soviet dessert (the ancestor of which, a vanilla-flavoured, chocolate-coated curd-butter-sugar mixture, already existed in the Soviet Union under the name "glazirovanniy syrok") after the idea was brought to Hungary during a study trip between the COMECON countries. It was first produced in the Mátészalka dairy plant of Szabolcstej, and later production also began in the Zalkatej dairy plant in Nagybánhegyes. Following the regime change, the manufacturing companies were privatised, as a result of which the production of Túró Rudi became the property of Friesland-Campina.

Even today, the Pöttyös brand enjoys incredible success, as every age group can find their favourite flavour. For us Hungarians, Pöttyös products mean more than just a treat. They are always with us and always bring a smile to our face, cheering us up!
