Producer information

In the early 1960s, Arch West, an employee of Frito-Lay, noticed the popularity of tortilla chips sold at Disneyland's Casa de Fritos restaurant and convinced his company to produce them. Marketing began in California in 1964, and the Doritos brand name was introduced to the North American market in 1966.

In 1967, management decided to introduce one of the brand's signature flavors, Doritos Nacho Cheese.

Doritos were marketed in the French market in 1994 under the BN brand, also owned by PepsiCo, and in the Belgian market in 1996.
