The history of Dr. Oetker dates back to 1891: this is when pharmacist Dr. August Oetker developed the baking powder that is now considered a classic. The company's headquarters have been in Bielefeld ever since, but Dr. Oetker products are available in 40 countries worldwide, outside of Germany. European and overseas organizations employ nearly 8,000 people. Throughout the company's more than 100-year history, the Oetker family has always played an active role in company management.

In Hungary, Oetker products appeared shortly after the company's founding, at the beginning of the last century. Today, 350 people work in the Budapest office and the Jánossomorja production plant.
